Gobelin allegorie - Tapestry allegory

Het patroon voor deze bijzondere gobelin heb ik gemaakt naar een origineel uit ong. 1530. Het is een allegorie. De tekst luidt: "Si tu pretens a honneur parvenir es deux recorde et prevoie ladvenir".
Vertaald betekent dit: als jij eer wilt halen moet je de twee - verleden en heden- bekijken en vooruitblikken naar de toekomst. Een wijze les dus. De 2 figuren links stellen het verleden voor, de 2 figuren rechts de toekomst. De figuur in het midden heeft 2 gezichten die naar het verleden en naar de toekomst kijken. De middelste figuur is het heden. Het hele werk is gemaakt met de gobelin steek. Afmetingen: 18,5 x 14 cm.

The pattern for this special tapestry was made based on an original from around 1530. It is an allegory. The text reads: "Si tu pretens a honneur parvenir es deux recorde et prevoie ladvenir". Translated, this means: if you want to achieve honor, you must look at the two - the past and the present - and look forward to the future. A wise lesson indeed. The 2 figures on the left represent the past, the 2 figures on the right represent the future. The figure in the middle has 2 faces looking towards the past and the future. The middle figure is the present. The entire work is made with the tapestry stitch. Dimensions: 18.5 x 14 cm.
